Donald T. Valentine

Before starting Sequoia Capital in 1972, Don Valentine was a
founder of National Semiconductor and a senior sales and marketing
executive with Fairchild Semiconductor. Since then, he and his
Sequoia Capital partners have participated in the financing of over
400 technology companies. Mr. Valentine has played a role in the
formation of several industries such as semiconductors, personal
computers, personal computer software, digital entertainment and
internetworking.

Mr. Valentine was a director of several companies that pioneered
segments of the computer and consumer software industries. These
include the likes of Atari, Apple and Oracle. He remains Chairman of
Network Appliance Corporation.

Semiconductors have long been a particular area of interest for Mr.
Valentine, as well. He was involved in the start-up of LSI Logic,
Linear Technology and Valid Logic. He is still Chairman of C-Cube
Microsystems and a director of Sierra Semiconductor.

Sequoia Capital is a $700 million series of venture capital funds. The
partnership invests in two main areas...electronics and healthcare.
Sequoia primarily invests in the seed and start-up financing of early
stage companies on the West Coast. These investments range from
$50,000 to $3 million. The partnership will also invest between $1
million and $5 million in the expansion of high quality, rapidly growing
companies throughout the United States.

Mr. Valentine is Chairman of the Stanford University Engineering
Venture Fund, a member of the Board of Governors of the San
Francisco Symphony, a member of the San Francisco Opera Guild
and continues his quest to play every championship golf course in the
world.
