Michael E. Fox, Sr.
Founder
M. E. Fox & Company

Inducted 1999

Michael E. Fox was born in 1936 and graduated high school in
Prairie du Chien, WI. He earned his bachelor's degree at the
University of Notre Dame, and did post-graduate work at the Siebel
Institute of Technology studying Brewing Science.

In 1965 Mr. Fox moved to San Jose and founded M. E. Fox &
Company with just $96 in cash and a $10,000 bank loan. Today, the
company is one of two exclusive Anheuser-Busch distributors in
Silicon Valley. M. E. Fox & Company employs more than 100
people and has annual revenues in excess of $40 million.

Mr. Fox has put to work the success of his business by giving
generously to a lengthy list of the valley's educational, humanitarian
and arts organizations. Money has been a part of that generosity. But,
more importantly, he has given enormous amounts of time. Mr. Fox
has stated many times that the community has supported him in
building a successful business, so it's only fair that he give back to the
community. Representative of his active community involvement -
over 50 organizations - are Eastfield Ming Quong, Hope
Rehabilitation Foundation, Boy Scouts, the Silicon Valley Charity
Ball, and KTEH Public TV to name a few.

Recognition of Mr. Fox's heavy involvement in the community has
been ongoing since 1988. Again, too many to mention them all. But,
representative would be the San Jose Hospital Legacy Medal, Santa
Clara County Philanthropist of the Year, Distinguished Citizen of the
Year, and the David Packard Civic Entrepreneur Award.

Since 1959, Mr. Fox has been married to his wife, Mary Ellen. They
have six children, three of whom are active in the family business.
