Michael L. Hackworth is Co-founder and Chairman of the Board of
Cirrus Logic, Inc. In addition, Hackworth sits on the boards of Read-
Rite Corporation and QuestLink Technology, Inc. He also recently
briefly served as President and CEO of Aspirian Inc., a Web-based
exterprise software start-up, prior to its sale. Hackworth currently
advises high tech entrepreneurs and serves in advisor/board member
and investor roles for a number of Silicon Valley start-ups.
Prior to becoming Chairman of Cirrus Logic in April 1999,
Hackworth served as the company's President and Chief Executive
Officer since January 1985. Under his leadership, Cirrus Logic grew
from a start-up venture to a major supplier of advanced integrated
circuits. Before joining Cirrus Logic, Hackworth spent 14 years at
Signetics Corp., a subsidiary of N.V. Philips, where he held various
management positions, his last one being Senior Vice President. Prior
to joining Signetics (now Philips Semiconductors), he served in a
number of general management and marketing and sales management
positions at Motorola and Fairchild Semiconductor. All together,
Hackworth has been working in the semiconductor industry for more
than 30 years.
Hackworth holds a degree in engineering from Santa Clara
University, and was recognized for his management acumen in 1990
when he was named Ernst & Young Semiconductor Entrepreneur of
the Year. Additionally, in recognition of his many philanthropic
efforts, Santa Clara University awarded him an honorary degree of
Doctor of Public Service.
