Papken Der Torossian

Former CEO, Silicon Valley Group

Papken S. Der Torossian currently is a special adviser to
ASML.Previously he was chairman of the board of directors and
chief executive officer of Silicon Valley Group Inc. (SVGI) which
was acquired by ASML.

Mr. Der Torossian was presented with the 1999 EHS Leadership
Award from PIBA (Pacific Industrial and Business Association) and
SVMG. Past achievements include a nomination for entrepreneur of
the year. He also has served as chairman of AEA Silicon Valley
Council and a chairman of AEA International Public Affairs
Committee at the national level.

Mr. Der Torossian served on PECSEA (President's Export
Administration). He has served on the board of numerous public and
private companies, which he has helped to sell or to form a joint
venture. From 1990 to 1992, he served as chairman of
Semi/Sematech.

Mr. Der Torossian is an active member of the Council on
Competitiveness and the Center for Corporate Innovation, and has
been on the national CEO Council since 1994.

Mr. Der Torossian received the "Ellis Island Medal of Honor" in
1995 an award honoring individuals who immigrated to the United
States and demonstrated outstanding humanitarian excellence as a
U.S. citizen.

Mr. Der Torossian currently is on the board of directors of the Silicon
Valley Manufacturing Group (SVMG). He also serves on the Board
of the National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ) and
the Semiconductor Industry Supplier Association (SISA). He is
chairman of the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials
International Environmental, Health and Safety Committee (SEMI
EHS), and is a member of the Santa Clara County Arts Council
Board of Trustees.

Mr. Der Torossian is a visiting alumnus at MIT and a trustee of
University of California, Santa Cruz. He is a founder and board
member of BSLO (Bayshore Lyric Opera) a nonprofit organization.
Mr. Der Torossian recently became a board member of the Santa
Cruz County Business Council.

Formerly, Mr. Der Torossian was president of ECS Microsystems
and president of the Santa Cruz Division of Plantronics Inc., where he
also served as vice president of its Telephone Products Group. Prior
to that, he spent four years at Spectra-Physics and 12 years with
Hewlett Packard Co. in a variety of management positions. Mr. Der
Torossian holds a B.S.M.E. degree from MIT and a M.S.M.E
degree from Stanford University.
