Lata Krishnan joined AIF July 2001. Her primary responsibilities include project selection, manage India Board of Advisors, develop global NRI outreach programs, develop strong group of trustees and volunteers, build partnerships with US and India based non-profits and develop communications strategy. Ms. Krishnan is one of the leading women entrepreneurs in the Silicon Valley and co-founder of SMART Modular Technologies, Inc. SMART, a billion dollar company was recognized as one of Fortune Magazine's 100 Fastest Growing Public Companies that was recently acquired by Solectron Corp. Ms. Krishnan received a B.S. with honors from the London School of Economics and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Ms. Krishnan is a member of the Angels Forum in Northern California, which focuses on funding and mentoring of new ventures.

Ms. Krishnan's community efforts include being on the Board of Directors for the San Jose Tech Museum, Children's Discovery Museum, San Jose Repertory Theater, The Indus Entrepreneur (TIE) Silicon Valley Chapter and a Fellow of the American Leadership Forum. She is also on the Advisory Board for Narika (Shelter for Abused Women in the Asian Community) and the Indian Business and Professional Women's Association.

Born in Kerala, India, Lata spent many years in Kenya, Africa and the UK before settling down in CA. She currently resides in Fremont, CA with her husband Ajay Shah and their 2 children.
