Over 30 major national, state and community leaders have provided Proclamations recognizing Junior Achievement's 50 years of accomplishments and contributions to local student success in work, community, and life. These leaders recognize that since 1953 Junior Achievement has enabled a win-win-win for the communities, volunteers, and students in Santa Clara, Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz Counties. They know that our communities win with better-prepared and motivated employees, consumers and citizens - thus far over 350,000. Our Junior Achievement volunteers win because of their satisfying connection with kids, being role models, and knowing they sparked kids' interest in getting the most education possible for business, life, and community success. And students win because of what they learn from the dedicated volunteer role models from local businesses and community organizations, who exemplify the strong principles and ethics that form Junior Achievement's backbone. Particularly now as California faces a budget crisis that will affect many aspects of families lives, Junior Achievement will continue to have a truly significant impact on the youth of Silicon Valley and Monterey Bay. "It is programs like Junior Achievement that make the difference in our community through their continued dedication and service to education," said Rep. Lofgren (D-San Jose). "I congratulate them on their success over the past 50 years. Connecting education and the workplace advances students, their career goals and enhances the future workforce of this country."
